State Fund Today
Tools to Help with New COVID Rules

Several emergency Cal/OSHA COVID-19 regulations went into effect on November 30, 2020.
State Fund has developed several resources, available on www.SafeAtWorkCA.com, to help businesses understand and comply with the new requirements.
On January 27 and 28, State Fund will host webinars that explain the new requirements and show how to find and use the new online resources. These webinars are open to the public and we encourage you to invite your clients. Employers can register for the live webinars or view the recordings afterward at www.SafeAtWorkCA.com/Safety-Seminars/.
The regulations impose several new requirements for employers including:
- Creating a written COVID-19 Prevention Program (CPP), which establishes a plan for preventing the spread of the virus in the workplace. Click here for State Fund’s CPP template.
- Providing free COVID-19 testing to employees if there is an outbreak in the workplace and retesting up to two times a week.
- Keeping employees who are sick or exposed to COVID-19 out of the workplace.
- Paying wages to employees who cannot work due to a COVID-19 exposure on the job.
- Reporting COVID-19 cases to the local health department.
The new rules are designed to protect employees from the virus and apply to every California business except:
- Places of employment with one employee who does not have contact with other persons.
- Employees working from home.
- Employers covered by the Aerosol Transmissible Diseases standard (primarily health care providers, correctional facilities, drug treatment programs, and homeless shelters).
